Things to do in Summer

Relax and enjoy the beautiful chalet  - inside by the wood-burning stove or outside on the large terrace. Take in the stunning views and be inspired to explore the village, share an adventure in the valley or on the higher mountain paths.

Explore on foot or by bike (available to rent in Zinal). Hike along the valley and picnic in the alpine meadows. Take the cable car up and take in views of the Matterhorn and other 4000m peaks which surround the valley. There are marked hiking trails throughout the Val d'Anniviers.

Road bike through the traditional mountain villages of Ayer, Mission and St Jean or explore the extensive mountain bike trails.

Take on a thrilling mountain adventure by going up high to a refuge, glacier walking, scrambling on the via ferrate trails or learning to climb or improve your alpine skills with a fully qualified IFMGA Mountain Guide.

Summer facilities include:

  • Swimming Pool & Wellness Centre

  • Tennis Courts

  • Hiking and biking trails

  • Cable cars and chair lifts

Every day in winter is an adventure to be shared and relived in the evening around the wood-burning stove.

Skiers & snowboarders are spoiled for choice with everything from extensive beginner and intermediate slopes to some seriously challenging black runs to explore. The off-piste skiing here is some of the best you'll find anywhere in the Alps - there's a reason it's known by many as the 'Jackson Hole of Switzerland'! The lifts rise to nearly 3000m with ski slopes open from December to April

Grimentz/Zinal is one of five ski stations in the Val d'Anniviers all included on the Magic Pass. This unlimited annual ski pass covers more than 30 resorts allowing access to lifts in summer and winter is fantastic value.

The high alpine panorama from the slopes is quite simply breathtakin. We sit in the middle of the Imperial Crown of five 4000m peaks including the Matterhorn, the iconic alpine summit.

NEW LIFT for the winter season 2020/21 the cable-car lift will be replaced with a 10-seater gondola lift with a capacity of 1800 people / hour more than double the current capacity AND much more comfortable.

For non-skiers the snowshoeing and walking route possibilities are endless - both low down and up in the ski area. Plus meeting up with skiers to share lunch or a vin chaud is easy!

Facilities in Zinal include:

  • Swimming pool and wellness centre

  • Bars, cafes and restaurants

  • Over 115kms of pisted skiing & immense off-piste skiing and ski touring routes

  • Ski Schools and Private guiding (with IFMGA Mountain Guides)

  • Dedicated cross-country tracks and snowshoeing trails

  • Ski hire shops
